The Asia Video Industry Association appoints Celeste Campbell-Pitt as its Chief Policy Officer for the region.
FREMONT, CA: The Asia Video Industry Association (AVIA) appoints a new Chief Policy Officer based in its Singapore office, a first for the role. Celeste Campbell-Pitt comes to AVIA on Monday 3rd May, initially joining Chief Policy Officer John Medeiros, retiring after a short transition period. In Hong Kong, Medeiros joined the Association, then known as CASBAA, in 2005 as VP of Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs, has been Chief Policy Officer since 2013.
A critical focus of AVIA is to represent the coupled positions of its members and engage in constructive dialogue with governments to better understand the curated video sector and foster an environment of help for the growth of the sector. The Chief Policy Officer spearheads this objective, developing and executing policy initiatives needed to the video industry in consultation with and on behalf of AVIA member firms.
The responsibility of the Chief Policy Officer has emerged over the years and has become a lot more vital as regulatory policies continue to develop alongside the sweeping transformation the video industry has seen in recent years. This role is vital for AVIA and has taken a long time to find the apt person. While taking over responsibility from John, who has made the responsibility his own, will be no seamless task, the company is delighted to have Celeste. She has such a passion for the industry and a clear vision for building and developing the role.
Campbell-Pitt comes with about twenty years of business and legal experience in the media and entertainment sectors across Europe and Asia. Before joining AVIA, she was consulting with several global media and technology firms and private equity firms looking to widen into the Asia Pacific region. After her stint at Endemol Shine Asia Group as the Director and Leader of Commercial and Operations, Campbell-Pitt was the vice president and Head of Business Development and Advertising Sales at Discovery Networks Asia Pacific. She has held Senior Legal Counsel positions in international media firms, including Star, Turner, and Channel Four in the UK.
