VMS systems that are installed on-premise are better for handling video surveillance at a single location. On-site, all streaming, recording, and management servers, storage devices, and applications are installed. This enables users to monitor their security and connected device ecosystems directly from the website.
FREMONT, CA: Online video is becoming more common among businesses. It is no surprise, then, that this is the case. By 2027, the global video streaming market is expected to reach $184.30 billion. An exploding OTT and media industry, eLearning, live sports, and online video for events and training are all part of this sector. Video Management Software (VMS) is a critical component of business success in this industry.
VMS is a tool that allows professionals to manage online video content libraries. Online video used to be a small business. And the largest providers could have only had a few hundred videos at most. The game, however, has completely changed today. Hundreds of thousands of individual files can easily be found in today's online video library and the most extensive video collections can go much further.
Video Management Software can be categorized into three deployment types:
VMS On-Premise
VMS systems that are installed on-premise are better for handling video surveillance at a single location. On-site, all streaming, recording, and management servers, storage devices, and applications are installed. This enables users to monitor their security and connected device ecosystems directly from the website.
Cloud-Based VMS
Unlike on-premise VMS, cloud-based VMS offers greater versatility and scalability. It enables the user to manage several sites simultaneously from any place and at any time.
Hybrid VMS
A hybrid VMS is a versatile surveillance system that can manage both analog and IP video signals simultaneously. It enables businesses to provide conventional VMS solutions alongside cloud video surveillance functionality.
Installations of VMS Suitable for the Company Size
According to surveillance sites, video management software can be divided into three categories: small, medium, and large VMS installations. Small VMS installations can accommodate 10-20 cameras and are ideal for small businesses with a single location. Small to mid-sized businesses can benefit from mid-sized VMS installations (connecting 20 to 50 cameras). In contrast, large multi-site or multi-location companies can benefit from large VMS installations (more than 50 cameras). Small businesses can buy plug-and-play VMS kits and get them set up by any technician. Companies may outsource VMS services to VMS service providers or system integrators in medium or large VMS projects.
