FREMONT, CA: If you are unsure whether to listen to your favorite track or play your favorite game on the PlayStation, just relax, because you can now do both at the same time. As Spotify comes to Sony PlayStation Music, you can beat the scary monsters in the haunted hills with a soundtrack in the background having a shrill of the rock or the thumping beat of the hip hop or a song of choice.
Sony and Spotify have explored the idea – which holds true for many – that game and music together is a lethal combination! Building a business model on this natural inclination of gamers across the world, Sony enables users of PlayStation 3 and 4 consoles to access Spotify music library which is home for over 30 million songs: the upshot is now the user can play high end games with high decibel music of choice, intoxicating!
Using Spotify Connect, the user can control the background soundtrack from a smartphone or tablet without the need to pause the game. Both Spotify Free and Spotify Premium users can avail Spotify Connect on their Android and iOS devices to control music on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. So they can now select a playlist, shuffle songs, control volume, and explore newer possibilities which are expected to be added in future under the collaboration. PlayStation Network users can subscribe to Spotify’s Premium service by linking their account to Spotify.
The deal helps both the companies. Sony has to ensure that it stays a cut above the rest in the gaming console business and Spotify is making all the noises of late. So going dual is like giving the business an extra shot of adrenaline.
The Spotify music service which is now currently available to PlayStations will soon be extended to more devices including Xperia, smartphones, and tablets.
