The new system comprises around 100 channels of affordable African content and is designed for a cost-effective and speedy four-week rollout.

FREMONT CA: Several recent advancements have made Africa’s telco sector one of the most dynamic in the world. Both mobile and fixed networks have increased dramatically due to telco investment, and operators are now looking for ways to increase monetization and retain consumers. In light of this, MwareTV, a renowned cloud-based multi-tenant platform, offers a unique platform to increase data traffic while also increasing customer retention. The firm has recently made the new end-to-end TV solution available for telco operators and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in Africa.

The new system comprises around 100 channels of affordable African content and is designed for a cost-effective and speedy four-week rollout. In addition, the solution can also be completely customized to reflect each operator’s unique branding, logo, and identity.

“At a time when Africa’s telco and streaming services are undergoing sustained expansion, MwareTV is able to provide a comprehensive end-to-end solution that provides a remarkable range of content to an ever-growing customer base. Developed to utilize existing infrastructure and allow viewers to watch TV on the device of their choice, it is a genuine ‘plug and play solution’ without parallel in Africa at present. Underlining the appeal of the service, we are already in advanced talks with several major telcos and ISPs about deployments and expect to reveal details of the first few customers in the coming months,” said Sander Kerstens, CEO, MwareTV.

The MwareTV service is based on a ‘pay as you develop’ model, which means no big upfront expenses exist. It is designed to meet the needs of medium and larger telcos and ISPs. Subscription rates can be kept low as a result, giving innovative services the best chance to gain market traction early. MwareTV can work closely with any operator to develop a lucrative business case and launch the service, with four-week deployments likely to be the norm.

Telcos can use the platform for an Internet Protocol television (IPTV) offering in addition to presenting it as an OTT service to mobile and fixed network users. Content from a wide range of TV categories, including news, sport, entertainment, movies, and faith, is available to service providers.
