The new 4K device is revolutionizing the way viewers enjoy shows with streaming and live TV, instead of a separate set-top box.
FREMONT, CA: "We have the puck, but ideally I want this solution to be ubiquitous and embedded in every single device," says Dave Shull, CEO of TiVo. A digital video recorder, TiVo is launching a new device, TiVo Stream 4K. TiVo Stream 4K is a small HDMI puck, designed to reach a much broader group than the existing TiVo customer base. Users want something to unify and integrate live TV and streaming, rather than having separate set-top boxes or apps. The streaming side includes integrations with services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, HBO, and others, comprising content from TiVo+, the free, ad-supported movie, and TiVo's TV service.
TiVo will also introduce an additional 23 new channels to TiVo+, bringing the total count to 49. These channels include a new News category, with channels like USA Today, Cheddar, and Top Stories by Newsy. TiVo Stream 4K will consist of live TV and cloud DVR through integration with Sling TV. Once the users log in to various services, the device enables users to navigate based on shows and movies, rather than hopping between different apps. This takes advantage of TiVo's personalization capabilities draws a more extensive range of knowledge about consumer preferences than any individual app has access to. "The personalization theme underlines the entire product," says Chris Thun, VP of Product at TiVo. "Across these carousels, it’s really using machine learning and AI to push the right movies and shows to me at the right time." TiVo Stream 4K will be available to users in April with an initial launch pricing of $49.99. TiVo will be working with cable and internet providers to offer the device to their broadband-only customers.
TiVo is a digital video recorder enabling users to save TV programs to view later based on an electronic TV programming schedule. In a complex world of too much searching, swiping, scrolling, and settling and not nearly enough delighting and discovering, TiVo brings entertainment together. The company has made it easier for people to find, watch, and enjoy what they love on their terms.
