Technical Services Group has purchased Georgia Copper, a major US manufacturer of copper grounding and bonding devices for radio and TV broadcasters, data centers, and emergency response services.

FREMONT, CA: “I am thrilled to pass the torch to Technical Services Group, a top-notch organization with seasoned professionals who will take Georgia Copper to the next level,” says Smith. Technical Services Group (TSG), a leading provider of broadcast engineering and commercial AV solutions, has procured Georgia Copper, an innovator of copper grounding and bonding products manufactured in the United States for radio and TV broadcasters, data centers, and emergency services, among other customers.

“You can expect even better customer service and more in-stock inventory moving forward,” adds Smith.

The acquisition expands TSG's existing range of RF, studio, and facility infrastructure solutions, including copper, lightning, and surge reduction equipment. The acquisition further improves TSG's value proposition as a full-service supplier, which includes installation, commissioning, and technical support services, in addition to an expanding product portfolio.

Gary Smith, who created Georgia Copper in 2007, approached TSG about acquiring the company as he prepared for retirement at the end of 2022. In the following weeks, Georgia Copper's current operations and inventory will migrate to TSG's headquarters in Baton Rouge.

The CEO of TSG, Bo Hoover, will maintain Georgia Copper in its current state and build upon its existing basis with an eCommerce website to facilitate online sales. Hoover also sees an opportunity to expand the Georgia Copper product line. He can easily envision developing another 50 specialist products that assist broadcasters and other customers, such as studio and data center operators, in constructing comprehensive site protection systems.

“Georgia Copper has long been a trusted and respected brand in the broadcast industry,” says Hoover. “Gary applied his experience as a Ham radio operator and broadcast engineer to building a business that made very important, yet often hard-to-find copper products, readily available. We will build on Gary's vision in a way that makes it easier for customers to buy Georgia Copper products and become a single-source supplier that provides all the grounding and bonding products our customers need.”
